First Aid at Work Annual Refresher

The Health & Safety Executive recommend that all first aiders in the workplace receive annual refresher training to keep their emergency skills and confidence up to date. This 4 hour course reviews all the FAW basics and includes practising basic life support skills.

If held at your premises we can tailor the course to any specific first aid that relates more prominently to your line of work. 

First Aid at Work Requalification

This 2 day course is to retrain those with an existing FAW certificate which is about to expire or has expired not more than 1 month ago. (3 months in special circumstances – contact us for details.)

Content is the same as a full 3 day course but delivered over 2 days. It results in the full renewal of a Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate.

Unit 1. Emergency First Aid at Work

1. Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider.
2. Be able to assess an incident.
3. Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally.
4. Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally.
5. Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking.
6. Be able to manage a casualty who is choking.
7. Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock.
8. Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury.

Unit 2. Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace

1. Be able to conduct a secondary survey.
2. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints.
3. Be able to administer FirstAid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries.
4. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries.
5. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with burns and scalds.
6. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with an eye injury.
7. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning.
8. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis.
9. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with suspected major illness.

Level 2 Award in CPR & AEDs

This 4 hour course provides both the understanding and skills to deal with a person having a heart attack or cardiac arrest. It meets HSE recommendations covering provision and use of AEDs in the workplace and conforms with recommendations of the Resuscitation Council.

Ideal for anyone who has access to an AED including members of the public and communities where public access AEDs have been installed.

Level 3 Paediatric First Aid

This 2 day qualification course is an extension to the Emergency Paediatric First Aid course and covers in depth first aid for infants under 1 year old and children from 1 to onset of puberty.

It is ideal for school staff, childcare providers, childminders, nursery & pre-school staff and people who work regularly with babies & children.

The course fulfils the requirements of the statutory framework for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) issued by Dept. of Ed & Skills Foundation Stage relating to Early Years childcare.

This qualification covers all elements of Unit 1 from the Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid course plus the following additional unit:

Unit 2. Managing paediatric illness, injuries and emergencies

1. Be able to administer first aid to an infant / child with injuries to bones, joints and muscles.
2. Be able to administer first aid to an infant / child withhead and spinal injuries.
3. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant / child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose.
4. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant / child with a chronic medical conditions or sudden illness.
5. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant / child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat or cold.
6. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child who has sustained an electric shock.
7. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child with burns or scalds.
8. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child who has been poisoned.
9. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child who has been bitten or stung.
10. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child with minor injuries.
11. Understand how to complete records relating to illnesses, injuries and emergencies.

Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid

This 1 day qualification course covers emergency first aid for infants under 1 year old and children from 1 to onset of puberty.

It is ideal for parents, grandparents, baby sitters and people who work occasionally with babies & children.

The course fulfils the requirements of the statutory framework for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) issued by Dept. of Ed & Skills Foundation Stage relating to Early Years childcare although most people who work with children on a regular basis attend the Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course.

This half day course is designed to help practices and surgeries comply with CQC guidelines for ensuring all primary health care settings are able to handle medical emergencies. Suitable for G.P. and Dental surgeries, health clinics and other primary health care settings.

Not just a quick bit of mannikin practise we get your whole team involved and working together!  A fantastically fun all round course keeping health professionals and their teams up to date & confident with CPR, AEDs & other emergency first aid skills. “Ah ah ah ah stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive...”

Medical Emergencies for Dentists

Designed to help dental practices comply with Resuscitation Council Guidelines for clinical standards and training, this half day course is often combined with BLS+ for dental surgeries to be more prepared for common medical emergencies that can arise when treating patients. 

The course can be booked with BLS+ as a whole day at a reduced rate or they can be booked separately as 2 half days to suit your surgery scheduling.

The session covers both theory and practise in recognising and initially treating ill patients as well as deciding when further help should be sought.

This 1 day course is designed around government legislation & guidance including the inter-agency guide Working Together to Safeguard Children. Ideal for all those working with children such as school & nursery staff, childminders, playgroup leaders etc. 

Level 2 Award in the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults

This 1 day course is designed around government guidance including the “No Secrets” 2000 document. It is suitable for paid or voluntary workers within health or social care such as homes, day centres, sheltered accommodation units etc.

The Health and Safety and Work Act 1974 and the Manual Handling Operation Regulations 1992 require each employer to provide adequate training. This 1 day course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to safely move objects in the workplace, helping businesses to comply with this aspect of the regulations.
